First of all let me start off by saying that I DID NOT PAY $47 for a treat bag! But I did put together one that retails for that lol Start buying now and putting back for later, it’s a great philosophy! I don’t know about other people, but I really enjoy making my son treat bags for holdiay’s like: Halloween, Valentines and Easter! If you catch sales just at the right time you can really save BIG on the items you put in them. Towards the end of a Holiday or if you shop out of season you can snag some really great things for your kids goodie bags. The key is to try and buy things ahead of time so you can get it cheaper than you would if you bought it now. Below i’m going to highlight the things I bought, tell you what i paid for them and show you where you can get them the cheapest now.
Halloween Goodies 2010
- $5 Build A Bear Spooky Ghost $5 - Build A Bear Workshop.com (retails for $17)
- $5 Veggie Tales DVD “The Wonderful Wizard of Ha’s” -I picked this up at my local Walmart back in May. Barnes and Noble (retails for $13.00)
- $3 Spot’s Thanksgiving Board Book-picked this up in July on clearance at a book store while we were on vacation. (retails for $5.99) I can’t find this online, it’s out of stock every where i looked!
- $2 Fisher Price Sesame Street Count Die Cast Car- got this on clearance at Fisher Price’s Online Store (retails for $6.99)
- $2 McDonald’s Halloween Coupon Book- most McDonald’s sold these for $1 but our’s didn’t!
Had I paid full price for all of this I would have paid $47.00!!!
Lucky for me I like to shop ahead and search for bargains so my total out of pocket cost was ONLY $17 That’s a savings of 64%! Pretty good deal considering i got everything for the cost of the Build A Bear Ghost’s retail value!

I started buying things for this treat bag back in April. All year long I looked for goodies on clearance. After i bought them, I’d put them away until I needed them. I figure it’s cheaper to buy a little hear and a little there each month than having the whole expense right at once!

I was going through my pile of “junk” email and came across one from Fisher Price advertising a toy sale. I was hesitant to even give it a second look because i’m pretty much stocked on toys, but boy i’m gald i did! It’s never to early to start Christmas shopping, so head on over to the fisher price store and check out their sale items. (many of which are marked down to $10 or less) I just got the holiday press and go train (pictured above) for $10 shipped to my door! That’s 63% off the original price! My christmas shopping is almost complete
